ST. PAUL, Minn. — The Cats’ Brian Fryer was 3-for-5 with a home run and four RBI as the South thumped the North 11-4 Tuesday night at Midway Stadium in the American Association All-Star Game.

The Cats’ center fielder had two doubles in the first four innings. Fryer’s first double was part of a five-run third inning for the South All-Stars against former big leaguer Pat Mahomes. With the bases loaded, Fryer doubled to right for a 2-0 South lead. He was selected the game’s MVP.

The South scored three times in the fourth for an 8-0 lead. Left fielder John Allen, also of Fort Worth, drew a bases-loaded walk in that inning. Pensacola’s Brandon Sing homered.

Former TCU Horned Frog Walter Olmstead, playing for El Paso, hit a two-run home run in the fifth for a 10-0 South lead.

Fort Worth’s Joel Kirsten, in his second consecutive All-Star start, pitched two scoreless innings to earn the win. Cats left-hander Pedro Flores worked a 1-2-3 fourth inning.

Fort Worth’s Dan Grybash allowed a run on two hits in two innings pitched, and teammate Jon Hunton allowed three runs in the ninth, but closed the game.

Fort Worth catcher Ken Lup was 0-for-2 and DH Jake Gautreau was 0-for-5.
