Hey everyone, hope you are well. The last week has been busy as I was in New York with all the Chase drivers pumping up these final 10 races. It’s an honor to be in the Chase, and I’m not complaining one bit, but that New York trip takes a lot out of ya. It’s interview after interview after interview, no breaks in between, and by the end of the day you’re just exhausted. Also, it’s a little awkward being around the other Chase drivers. We all do our parts in being friendly to each other – and some of us actually are friends – but behind the smiles and chit-chat is the burning desire to beat each other for this championship. There’s no denying it. All of us are thinking the same thing. Just nobody comes out and says it. I guess that’s a good thing since we have to spend two full days with each other.
Anyway, I was happy with the way our Chase started at New Hampshire. We led a lot of laps and got a top-five. We need more of that, because some of the guys in this Chase field simply aren’t going to go away. We’ll have to flat out beat them to win this thing.
A couple things for you fans to mark on your calendars. The Dale Jr. Celebrity Sports Auction takes place Oct. 13. But before that, we’re gonna have a big time at Whisky River, as Kyle Petty and Gary Allan are performing a charity concert Sunday, Oct. 12! It’s the first time we’ve ever done this, and I’m pretty excited about it. When we were at the helipad after the NH race, I was telling Elliott Sadler that he has to come to it, because Kyle Petty is the opening act. His jaw nearly dropped to the ground. It was pretty funny.
You can go to the website, www.thedalejrfoundation.org for all the details and to buy tickets. As for the Celebrity Sports Auction, we have a pretty strong line-up of special guests, like Dale Jarrett, Elliott Sadler, Kerry Earnhardt, Brad Keselowski and Landon Cassill. Also, PGA Tour golfer Boo Weekley will be there. I had that crazy dude on my XM radio show a few months ago, and as soon as we hung up with him, I said “We’ve got to get him for the Celebrity Sports Auction.” Seriously, he might be the funniest guy I’ve met in a long time.
Also, you can see me at the Talladega and Charlotte races through my fan club, www.jrnation.com. They are offering a special ticket, check it out and I hope to see you guys there.
Off to an appearance for the Guard. Then on to Dover.
Talk to you soon,
Junior
